Bulrush Removal
Bulrush removal in the UK
Mechanical Removal
We use a Truxor amphibious machine manufactured in Sweden. It is extremely versatile and for bulrush (Typha) removal we attach a clamshell bucket to pull the bulrush out with its roots. This obviously hinders re-growth due to the fact that its root system has been removed. Seeds from the bulrush will still be present in the silt so future growth will still occur, but by removing the whole plant, re-growth can be more easily controlled.
The Truxor is an ideal machine for this operation as it works in the water and not from the waters edge, as a result no damage occurs to the bank or surrounding areas.
Being very lightweight and amphibious it can drive across tender or sensitive ground with no more of a mark than a human footprint making it ideal to use on Golf Courses, Public Parks and Domestic Property
Herbicide Treatment
Only approved chemicals can be used to treat vegetation in and around water. Aquatic solutions can apply for the required permit from the Environment Agency on your behalf and then apply the approved chemical using our NPTC qualified operators once it has been granted.
After treatment we would recommend removing the dead vegetation with our Truxor once the vegetation has died back.
